Horses, Wine and Flamenco

Jerez de la Frontera is the place to experience horses, wine and flamenco. Jerez is the horse capital of Spain with the Royal Riding School of Andalucían Equestrian Art and many important stud farms. Here you can still meet vaqueros (men who work with cattle and horses in the countryside) known for their riding and horse training skills. For three thousand years Jerez has been the home of sherry. This is the only place in the world the wineries produce the sherry wine of fables and legends. Grand flamenco artists such as José Mercé and Lola Flores, were raised, lived and performed their art in the city of Jerez. The particular type of «bulería» flamenco is typical for Jerez: unforgettable, wild and fiery. The racetrack between Las Mesas and the city hosts many celebrated motorsport events, among which the Gran Premio of Spain is most known. This event is among the most visited motor sports events in the world.
